Recently one of my favorite people summarized the faith journey at Sherwood Community.

He said, “For years we have tried to ‘do church’ so we could learn to act like community.  That was backwards.  Now we are striving to act like community so we can be a church.”

Just so.

We meet on Sunday, where worship is over breakfast, the children’s lesson is a family devotional, the “sermon” is an interactive Bible Study, and we break into groups of three at the end to prepare ourselves for a week of holding each other up in prayer.

Lead Minister

Wilson Parrish is the Lead Minister of Sherwood Community: A church pursuing “Life Better Together” in Sherwood, Oregon.  Wilson has been married to Kristen Jensen Parrish for 20 years, and thinks it was very nice of God to make sure he married someone so wonderful.  Wilson reads spy fiction/poly-sci written by guys like Clive Cussler, reads “A Christmas Carol” every year during the Holidays, and is unashamed of his love for his fourteen-pound Cocker-poo, Buddy.

Kristen and Wilson think the world of their two children, Mary-Adele who is 15, and Bradley, who is 12.

Wilson is a graduate of Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA where he did an extensive campus ministry internship while completing a masters in ministry.  He enjoys continuing education at George Fox Evangelical Seminary…when he can spare the time.  And speaking of spare time…

Wilson also proudly serves the City of Sherwood as Police Chaplain.
